Contactless drop arm barrier

Turnstar secures entrances to Kevro production facilities

Kevro is the largest supplier of corporate-branded clothing and promotional products in South Africa. It offers the most comprehensive range of clothing in its market, using unembellished clothing products, onto which branding is added to create bespoke items. The company operates from seven locations in South Africa as a trade-only supplier to more than 4 500 resellers and products are also distributed through resellers in other African countries.

Ensuring that access of employees and visitors at Kevro’s Linbro Park premises in Gauteng is carefully controlled has been achieved with the installation of eight Dynamic Drop Arm Barriers from Turnstar.

Contactless drop arm barrier

The Dynamic Drop Arm Barrier is suited to medium-volume applications where intermediate levels of security are required. The ultra slim cabinet design, in either 304 or 316 grade brushed stainless steel, provides an attractive and highly functional addition to any facility.

Turnstar’s SwiftDrive® ensures the uninterrupted passage of pedestrians, even those with special needs, with a standard 1.0 second opening time and 1.5 seconds closing time. Craig Sacks, MD of Turnstar says that these speeds can be adjusted to accommodate customer requests for a slower operating period. Two optical sensors ensure the safety of pedestrians passage through the barriers and the barriers are fitted with two 12V 7Ah backup batteries to guarantee continuous use when power failures occur.

Rated for 100% continuous non-stop operation, the Dynamic Drop Arm Barrier readily integrates with all access control, ticketing and time & attendance systems. Operation is triggered through a normally open dry contact and an extended trigger forces the arm to remain in the down position in the event of a fire alarm being activated.
