Kusasalethu mine is situated approximately 75km away from Johannesburg in Carletonville. The mining operations are run by Harmony Gold and the value of the mine runs into the billions of Rands. Turnstar has supplied a number of turnstiles to the mine and recently manufactured a special high security design turnstile for the mine.
The high security turnstile is fitted with 50mm diameter round tube arms which are spaced at 40mm apart. The very close arm spacing prevents any type of fraudulent biometric clocking as the employee cannot physically reach the reader from outside the turnstile. The biometric reader is fitted in the middle of the turnstile and allows for bi-directional operation.
