Powder coating offers a superior paint finish with excellent atmospheric weathering characteristics. A large portion of Turnstar’s production is of either powder coated mild steel, galvanised steel and stainless steel. With a view for the future, Turnstar recently commissioned a custom-built metal pre-treatment and powder coating plant, to the tune of over R4 million. The plant includes a full 7-stage pre-treatment process as well as a stainless steel nitric acid pickling and passivating section. All effluent is neutralised prior to disposal and is run according to strict internal controls. The powder coating spray booth allows a high percentage recovery of powder and the automated batch oven provides a monitored and high quality even heat for the baking and gelling of the powder.
