Following the #feesmustfall protests which ended in a R100m auditorium being irreparably damaged from arson, the University of Johannesburg undertook a major upgrade of its library security. The upgrade included all 4 campuses of the university and entailed the installation of 22 Streamline waist height turnstiles and 8 special needs gates. UJ’s library’s are truly the focal point for many students during their studying careers as the libraries offer many services as well as a much needed desktop with internet connectivity. There are 8 Steeamline turnstiles installed at the Auckland Park library campus which sees over 16 000 students per day. At this installation, 4 turnstiles are used for entry and an additional 4 turnstiles are used for exit. Turnstar manufactures quality products and this quantity of traffic is no match for the Streamline.
