Turnstar was recently tasked with providing coal mining Giant, South 32, with a secure physical access control solution for it’s Kusasalethu mine near Witbank, South Africa. The Turnstar SHIELD road blocker was selected and was recently installed at the entrance to a multi-million Rand fuel depot of the mine. The 3.5m road blockers have a 600mm lift and rise and lower within 5 seconds. Manufactured from hot dip galvanised steel and supplied with heavy duty double acting hydraulics, the system is expected to provide the mine with exceptional security from diesel thieves who have been forcing their way in and out of the depot.
