Turnstar recently converted a 20 foot shipping container for the Uitkomst Mine near Newcastle, South Africa. The container was fitted with three TITAN 4 single turnstiles, each with biometric readers and breathalysers (supplied by others). Turnstar also fitted the turnstiles with the hygie-hand automatic sanitiser which dispenses an alcohol based sanitiser after the biometric reader has been engaged. The major challenge for the customer in this case is the lack of municipal power near to the access control point and Turnstar provided a standalone solar solution, giving the container “power independence”. Six polycrystalline solar panels were fitted to the roof of the container and a full smart inverter with lithium ion battery was installed in a secure section of the container.
