The Turnstar Speedgate KINETIC has created quite a stir in the past few months and garnered a lot of attention at this years recent IFSEC exhibition. A key, yet hidden, feature of this high speed product (1 second opening time) is the heavy duty and ‘green’ motor and drive system – the motor being covered for an industry leading 3 year guarantee. For aesthetics, access control readers can be embedded inside the speedgate cabinet and for ease of use, four LED indicator displays are fitted to each lane for pedestrian guidance.
Security and safety are often the two most critical factors when it comes to evaluating a speedgate. The KINETIC is kitted out for both. An optical sensor array is used to monitor the movement of a pedestrian through the lane in order to prevent tailgating and wrong direction entry and two optical safety curtains are fitted in order to prevent accidental closing (each curtain is fitted with 48 beam detectors – now that is safety!). Embedded in the logic of the product, is that safety overrides security, however, the software is customisable depending on the customer’s requirements.
