Verulam is the 3rd oldest town in the Kwazulu-Natal region and is situated close to the ocean in Umdloti. About 10 years ago, the prison fell was closed and the building was left abandoned. The department of public works recently appointed a contractor for the refurbishment of the prison with a view of restoring the prison to full service in early 2014.
Two TITAN full height single turnstiles were chosen to control access into and out of the prison building. The TITAN offers a high level of security and the stainless steel finish compliments the modern materials being used at the entrance to this historic building. Stainless steel turnstiles offer great aesthetics as well as high levels of corrosion resistance. Kwazulu-Natal is known for its high levels of corrosion and 304 grade brushed stainless steel is often specified.
