Turnstar’s full height industrial turnstiles are available in a number of different finishes including power coated mild steel and 304/316 acier inoxydable de qualité brossé. Cependant, one critical finish which must be taken into consideration is hot dip galvanizing. Hot dip galvanizing is a process whereby molten zinc is bonded to the mild steel substrate, providing a finish with excellent corrosion resistance. The zinc oxidizes after coating and serves as a sacrificial coating which means that the substrate will only start rusting once all the zinc on the turnstile has been removed – which would take decades in most cases. The finish is hard wearing and provides a virtual fit and forget solution for corrosion. Power coating can also be applied on top of the zinc coating in Turnstar’s own internal powder coating plant. This allows for a more aesthetic solution with even better corrosion protection.
